About Xeomin
Xeomin is an injectable that is used to address wrinkles and lines in the facial skin, typically around the eyes, forehead, and glabella (frown area). Like BOTOX, Xeomin allows the targetted muscles to temporarily be relaxed and stop contracting in order for the skin on top of the muscles to smooth out and remain tighter during facial expressions. Xeomin can be an effective alternative to BOTOX due to the fact that it has no other additives to it, and is less likely to cause an allergic reaction in patients. Our double board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Robert Chiu, recommends Xeomin to patients who are looking for a younger-looking skin with less dynamic wrinkles, lines, and creases. If patients are interested in learning more about how they can achieve more youthful skin, then we invite them to schedule a consult at Today's Cosmetic Surgery in Pittsburgh, PA.

What to Expect
Xeomin will be administered via a small syringe and tiny needle into the desired areas. The entire process should last around 15-30 minutes. Patients can have a numbing agent administered prior to treatment if they are sensitive to the needle, and discomfort is generally very mild in Dr. Chiu's hands. Once the injections are complete, patients can return to their normal activities right away, except strenuous exercise. Some minor redness and swelling may occur, but these symptoms should subside shortly after.
Anticipated Results
Patients sometimes report seeing some results right after their initial treatment, though results will typically take a 3-10 days to appear. Results after a Xeomin injection generally last between 3 - 4 months, but it will vary per patient. Patients should schedule follow-up appointments shortly after their results begin to fade in order to maintain their improved complexion.
